The LPGA Tour has unveiled its 2024 schedule, marking yet another historic year for the world’s longest-running women’s sports organization. The schedule features 35 events (33 official events), boasting the world’s best golfers competing for a total prize fund surpassing $118 million, with $116.55 million in official money. This total prize fund represents the highest ever in Tour history, showcasing a remarkable 69% increase from approximately $70 million in 2021.
LPGA Commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan expressed her excitement about the significant growth, stating, “The 2024 LPGA Tour schedule reflects our historic growth. With new events and improved geographic flow, enhancing the athlete experience, our global reach and competitiveness have never been stronger.”
The global schedule will take the LPGA Tour to 15 states in the United States and 10 countries, including two multi-event swings in Asia between February and March and again in October. Notable additions to the schedule include three new events – the LPGA Drive On Championship in Bradenton, the FM Global Championship, and the Arizona Championship presented by JTBC. Additionally, golf legend Se Ri Pak joins as an event host, lending her name to the Seri Pak LA Open at Palos Verdes Golf Club in California.
A key highlight of the 2024 schedule is the record 16 tournaments with purses of at least $3 million, including 10 non-major and non-Tour Championship events – a substantial increase from four in 2023 and only one in 2021. Several tournaments, including the Mizuho Americas Open, Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give, Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, and the LOTTE Championship, have already announced purse increases.
Notably, the CME Group Tour Championship’s purse saw the most significant boost, jumping from $7 million to an impressive $11 million, as announced earlier this week. This increase follows a period of strained relations between CME and the LPGA, demonstrating a successful reconciliation through consistent communication.
The major championship season will kick off in April with The Chevron Championship in The Woodlands, Texas, followed by the U.S. Women’s Open in May at Lancaster Country Club in Pennsylvania. Other major championships include the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in June, the Amundi Evian Championship in July, and the AIG Women’s Open at St Andrews in August.
LPGA athletes will have a unique opportunity to compete for their home countries at the 2024 Paris Olympics, featuring a women’s golf competition at Le Golf National from Aug. 8-11. The Solheim Cup returns to the United States in September at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, while the Grant Thornton Invitational concludes the year in December in Naples, Fla.
The LPGA Tour’s remarkable growth in recent years reflects a positive trajectory for women’s golf, showcasing increased purses, global expansion, and a commitment to providing thrilling competition and unforgettable moments for fans worldwide. Here is the complete 2024 Schedule of the LPGA Tour.
