The X Games Aspen go live for the 23rd consecutive year. This year’s X Winter Games return to Aspen along with 100 of the world’s best athletes competing in Ski and Snowboard events. The event is right around the corner, with thousands of spectators tuning in every year to witness some of the best winter sports competitions in the world. Here’s all you need to know about X Games 2024.

When and where do the X Games Aspen 2024 take place?

This year’s X Games Aspen, as always, will take place at the Buttermilk ski resort in Aspen, Colorado. The venue attracts thousands of fans every year, as well as extensive media coverage. The event kicks off this January 26th and will conclude on January 28th.

What are the popular events at the Winter X Games?

Some of the most popular events at the Winter X Games include Slopestyle, Big Air, SuperPipe, and Knuckle Huck.

  • Slopestyle is based on terrain parks that are found at many winter resorts. X Games Slopestyle courses usually are comprised of between 6 and 8 feature sections broken down into 3-4 “jibs.”
  • The X Games Big Air course is a single jump that lives up to its name — the booter is always one of the largest jumps athletes will face all season.
  • Sometimes called the U-ditch or frozen taco, SuperPipe is a long, U-shaped course with steep walls and tightly compacted snow — competition pipes are rock hard to allow competitors better launch and more consistent takeoffs and landings.
  • A “knuckle” is the knoll at the top of a transition; it’s the spot where one angled (or even relatively flat) surface meets a suddenly much steeper decline. Skiers and snowboarders “pop” off the knuckle and land down the transition.

Where to watch the Winter X Games?

The Winter X Games is a free event to both join and watch. The 3-day affair is scheduled to live stream on Twitch and YouTube for free alongside cable services like ESPN and ABC, also ready to cover the entirety of the event without missing a single second of the action.

Who are the Winter X Games’ previous winners?

Canada and Norway came 2nd and 3rd, respectively, with 6 total medals, including 3 and 2 golds. This year’s tournament is all set to bring even more adrenaline to the game, and we’ll get to see how well the previous champions fare once again.
