Olympic gymnastics champion Mary Lou Retton is currently in a critical condition, “fighting for her life,” in an intensive care unit, as reported by her daughter, McKenna Kelley.
Retton, 55, has been diagnosed with “a very rare form of pneumonia” and has been receiving intensive care at an undisclosed hospital for over a week, during which she has been “not able to breathe on her own,” Kelley revealed in an emotional Instagram story posted on Tuesday.
Respecting her mother’s privacy, Kelley refrained from disclosing specific details regarding the illness but made an earnest plea for support. “We ask that if you could help in any way, that 1) you PRAY! and 2) if you could help us with finances for the hospital bill,” she stated.
