Bayern Munich stalwart Thomas Muller has agreed to a one-year contract extension, solidifying his commitment to the club until the summer of 2025. Muller’s existing contract was set to expire at the end of the current season. Still, the extension marks his continued loyalty to Bayern Munich, where he has spent his entire professional career.
The 34-year-old midfielder reached a significant milestone in his 684th appearance for Bayern during Sunday’s Bundesliga victory over Stuttgart. Over 14 years with the club, Muller has notched an impressive record of 237 goals and 261 assists.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the extension, Muller stated, “I am happy to continue my journey at Bayern. I want to play my part in the team and the club continuing to be successful, to continue to help steer the club in the right direction.”
Muller, a crucial part of Germany’s 2014 World Cup-winning team, has amassed an extraordinary collection of 32 trophies during his time with Bayern. This includes 12 Bundesliga titles, two Champions League triumphs (2013 and 2020), and numerous domestic honors.
Club president Herbert Hainer praised Muller’s contribution, stating, “Thomas Muller belongs to FC Bayern like the Frauenkirche belongs to Munich. He was born just outside the city, grew up at this club, and is already a legend while he is still playing here. Very few players achieve that.”
Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen emphasized Muller’s value to the team, saying, “Muller remains the ‘M’ in ‘Mia san Mia.’ We don’t just wish him an extremely successful time at Bayern but also with the (Germany) national team.”
The extension further cements Muller’s place in Bayern’s history, making him an iconic figure in the club’s storied legacy. As Bayern continues to vie for domestic and international success, Muller’s experience, leadership, and goal-scoring prowess will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in the team’s fortunes.
