Voting Process by Coaches and Journalists
The voting process involved two groups: coaches and journalists. Coaches who led teams in the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League group stages, UEFA Europa League, and UEFA Europa Conference League, participated in the voting.
In addition, coaches of national teams affiliated with UEFA and a panel of journalists chosen by the European Sports Media were also part of the decision-making process.
Each of these voters was asked to pick their top three players from the initial shortlist. They assigned points to their choices: five points for the first choice, three points for the second, and one point for the third.
Recognition for Other Players
It’s important to note that several other noteworthy players also received votes. İlkay Gündoğan, Rodri, Kylian Mbappé, Luka Modrić, Marcelo Brozović, Declan Rice, Alexis Mac Allister, and Jesús Navas were among those recognized for their exceptional contributions during the season.
